State Turns Blind Eye To Identity Theft

Even if your state government is not going to step in and protect you from identity theft, you would at least figure your elected officials would not be spoon feeding identity thieves your social security and credit card numbers. According to the Des Moines Register, the Iowa County Recorders Association website IowaLandRecords.org ius doing just that, posting confidential information of thousands of Iowans, including the social security numbers of Iowa Governor Chet Culver and Iowa Secretary of State Michael Mauro.  You will all be relieved to know, however, that while your confidential information may still be online, the governer and secretary state, through their diligent efforts have been successful in having their own confidential information removed from the site. Well, I guess we can all rest easier about that.
